Functional Skills - ICT
Entry Level 3
About the Course
The Entry Levels as a whole are designed to instate independence and basic ICT skills into every day life, and even the work place. Entry Level 3 is equivalent to a low GCSE grade, and can be used as a stepping stone to Functional Skills Levels 1, 2 and 3. This Level of entry will consist of the same modules and similar content to Entry Levels 1 and 2, but this will be in further depth. Entry Level 3 is made up of 45 hours of guided learning.
Using ICT. In this module learning will be able to use an ICT system to a good standard – this will be to meet given needs. For example, learners will understand how input and output devices work, and what to do if they aren’t working.
Finding and Selecting Information. Within this module learners will become knowledgeable in information storage. Alongside this they will also learn how to save and find files on various media.
Developing, Presenting and Communicating information. Learners will be able to create and enter a variety of information, for example – through a brochure. In addition, learners will understand how to find errors on text information and correct it – as well as discussing the purposes of different types of documents and learning how to use images as well as text.
There are no requirements for the Entry Levels, everything will be provided for during our class sessions.
The assessment, like Entry’s Level 1 and 2 will consist of a paper-based exam. This can be done over multiple sessions, and can be adapted for different learning styles.
Once the exam is passed, Learners will attain a Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Entry Level 3. (Qualification Number: 500/8500/1)
