Modules

Modules included on the level 2 Functional Skills ICT course consist of:
• Managing information. this section establishes an understanding of how to correctly manage
information, this includes: how to compress files into a folder, select the correct storage areas for
files such as in the computer, through the network server or memory stick/CD etc… and how to find
out how much space is left on a drive or memory stick.
• Working with structured data. This module focuses on building data tables, learning how to format
and sort data, as well as being able to do calculations using data. It is a large module, which will help
all excel in working with structured data.
• Working with numbers and charts. Working through this module means students will be knowledgeable in entering formulas, and using functions, whilst being able to format cells and use programmes such as Skill Builder 5.2.
• Combining and presenting information. This will prepare students to understand page layouts, and text, types of information and how this is combined, alongside the presentation of various types of information. Students will also learn how to produce their own publications. This too is a large and inciteful module.
• Using ICT to communicate. Within this module, general etiquette for communication such as emails will be taught, alongside online safety. How to effectively communicate and collaborate with others in different places will also be taught – and there will be a large focus on staying safe online.
