Level 2 Award - Thinking As A Coder - Summer 2022
Two weeks this Summer Holidays, Mondays to Fridays between the 1st August to the 12th August 2022, for 10 years and up. THIS COURSE IS OFQUAL APPROVED, equivalent to having a GSCE at grades A*-C or 4-9.

Geeks Room Presents - Level 2 Award, Thinking As a Coder!
Take part in our two-week Boot Camp, and earn yourself a qualification, for ages 10 and upwards**. Thinking as a Coder is aimed at all those who love coding and programming.
THIS COURSE IS OFQUAL APPROVED.
Inclusivity is always our main priority, that is why, we will take the course at the student’s pace, if they aren’t ready to sit the assessments, they can take wait, take them another day (there is no set assessment day, unlike GCSEs).
But it doesn’t end there, included in the boot camp are opportunities, to game, socialise as a community, play and learn together via GamEducation, on our top of the range gaming equipment (which includes PS5, Xbox, Virtual Reality systems, Gaming PCs, Nintendo Switches and much more).
The session will run Monday to Friday on both weeks (between the 1st August 2022 to the 12th August 2022):
Sessions*** are 10am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The Thinking as a Coder Qualification Package includes:
- Learner materials
- Diagnostic test
- Automated testing and instant results for the online assessment
- and, on successful completion, BCS Level 2 certification
This course has been created to develop computational thinking abilities and the skills needed to code simple computer programs.
Main Learning Outcomes
- Understand key concepts relating to computing and the typical activities involved in creating a program.
- Understand and use computational thinking techniques like problem decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms to analyse a problem and develop solutions.
- Write, test, and modify algorithms for a program using flowcharts and pseudocode.
- Understand key principles and terms associated with coding and the importance of well-structured and documented code.
- Understand and use programming constructs like variables, data types, and logic in a program.
- Improve efficiency and functionality by using iteration, conditional statements, procedures and functions, as well as events and commands in a program.
- Test and debug a program and ensure it meets requirements before release.

*** If any child/young person is booked for full days, they will be given time for them to have their lunch (please ensure a packed lunch is sent), or you can sign a permission slip form for them to leave the premises to go to the local shops.
**** For Thinking As A Coder, sessions are booked for the full two weeks and for full days.
